A Valentine Pocket Heart

This was a first for me. I have never made a pocket heart before. I created this card along the guidelines of the Try a new Technique Challenge (TLC151) at SCS. The template for the pocket heart is there too! I also tried another new technique....the scallops around the heart! They were easy to create! I got the idea from Beauty Lies Within and Patty's Stamping Spot. All you need is the scallop punch and a 1 3/8 or 1 1/4 circle punch. You just punch the circle out and then punch the scallop out of the same paper. Then snip one end to open and there you go. If you do not have a circle punch you can just cut out a circle from the inside of a scallop punch and then snip one end.

This card was created with all Stampin' Up! Products, except for the white brads by Making Memories and the ribbon which I bought Joann's. I used real red and VersaMark inks. I used the Priceless and Polka Dots & Paisley sets on this one. I chose regal rose, real red, and whisper white card stock. I started by cutting out the pocket heart and then I added the scallops I created with the two punches. (See above.) I used 2-way glue so that I was able to reposition the scallops until I got them just right. This was a little bit messy with the glue, but it got the job done. I then stamped and cut out three hearts. I used my mat pack and paper piercing tool on the horizontal strip with the white ribbon. I also used the mat pack to place the white brads. I stamped the dots for the background and the swirls in the heart in Versamark. I also used the corner rounder on the background. Oh and I also used dimensionals to attach the pocket heart to the front of the card.

This card is so festive and was so much fun to create! Thanks for looking! Enjoy!

I love the pocket idea-a card like this will be so fun to give to my son's teacher. Hand stamped card and chocolates-will make anyone smile! You are so creative!
